Uzbekistan Delegation Visits ACCESS Project Sites in Indonesia to Exchange Knowledge on Renewable Energy
From October 24th to 26th, 2023, a high-level delegation from Uzbekistan, including representatives from UNDP Uzbekistan, the Islamic Development Bank, World Bank Uzbekistan Project, the Ministry of Finance and Economy Uzbekistan, and the Uzbekistan District Government, visited the ACCESS project in Indonesia. The visit aimed to foster knowledge exchange and explore renewable energy solutions for underserved regions.
The delegation engaged with Indonesian officials at national, provincial, and district levels, and had the opportunity to discuss and learn from the UNDP Indonesia office. Key activities included visits to renewable energy projects in Malaringgi Village, Southeast Sulawesi, where they observed firsthand the impact and implementation of sustainable energy solutions.
The Uzbekistan team, which had previously accessed information about ACCESS through the project’s website and social media, found the outreach tools to be highly effective. They expressed appreciation for the opportunity to witness the collaboration between UNDP Indonesia and the Indonesian government in advancing local development through innovative projects, particularly in remote areas.
"The feedback from the Uzbek government delegation highlighted the valuable insights gained from observing how UNDP Indonesia and its partners work across different sectors. The delegation was particularly impressed by the comprehensive approach to community engagement and local government collaboration in promoting sustainable development," said Ram Iyer, Acting Resident Representative of UNDP Uzbekistan, via the message shared to UNDP Indonesia.
Aulia Nadira, the officer from ACCESS project who accompanied the visit added, “We are pleased to share our experiences and lessons learned in solar power plant construction with our visitors. While there are challenges, the knowledge shared will benefit ongoing and future projects, including those in Pakistan.”
The visit underscores the importance of international collaboration and knowledge exchange in advancing renewable energy solutions and promoting inclusive local development.
